Shortbread Festive Colors

Brighten up your holiday table with these colorful shortbread cookies! These delightful treats are not only visually appealing but also melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Ingredients

  • 200g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Red, green, and gold food coloring

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. 4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. 5. Divide the dough into three equal portions. Dye each portion with a different food coloring: one red, one green, and one gold. Mix the dough until the colors are evenly distributed.
  6. 6. Roll each colored dough into a log, then refrigerate for about 15 minutes so the dough is easier to handle.
  7. 7. Cut the dough logs into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place them on the prepared baking tray.
  8. 8. Bake the cookies in preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. 9. Allow the cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a more vibrant finish, use gel-based food coloring for deeper hues. Perfect for festive occasions and sharing with loved ones.
