Festive Sugar Cookie Trees

These Festive Sugar Cookie Trees are a delightful holiday treat, perfect for adding joy to any celebration. Decorated like little Christmas trees, they bring a whimsical touch to your cookie platter.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Assorted sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  4. 4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. 5. Add green food coloring to the dough, kneading until you reach your desired shade for the trees.
  6. 6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them onto the prepared baking sheets.
  7. 7. Decorate the cookies with assorted sprinkles to mimic ornaments on a tree.
  8. 8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. 9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a more festive touch, you can add edible glitter or pearl sugar to enhance the sparkle of your sugar cookie trees.
